17.4 Copying and Other Exports

Copy visuals into Word, PowerPoint or e-mails, copy table cells into Excel, or save a whole workbook as a web page.

Copying a Visual

Select a visual and press Ctrl+C (or HOME → Copy). Datashop puts on the clipboard:

  • a picture of the visual – paste it into Word, PowerPoint or an e-mail;
  • for tables, also the cells as text – paste into Excel to get the values;
  • the visual itself – paste it into another Datashop workbook to get a working copy.

The program you paste into picks the format it can use. With nothing selected, Copy copies the whole sheet as a picture.

Command Where Copies
Copy → Copy Right-click in a table The selected cells (tab-separated) and a picture
Copy → Copy cell value Right-click in a table Just the clicked value
Copy page Right-click a sheet tab The whole sheet – paste it into another workbook as a new sheet

There's no direct export to PowerPoint or image files – copy and paste the picture instead.

Saving as a Web Page

File → Save as HTML saves the workbook as a web page (.htm plus a folder with its images, named after the file with _files added) and opens it in your browser. If that folder already exists, you're asked before it's replaced with everything in it (build 20368 and later). All sheets are on one page, filters are shown as text.

If a file with the same name exists, it's replaced without asking – choose a new name to keep the old one.

Tips – Copying and Other Exports

  • For presentations, size the visual in Datashop first – the picture keeps its size.
  • To share live figures rather than a snapshot, share the workbook itself – see 17.5 Sharing Workbooks and Objects.
