9.5 Master Filter and Migrating

Older workbooks used a master filter: a workbook-wide filter edited in a dialog, often combined with filter visuals on the sheets. The Filter Panel has replaced it. Existing workbooks keep working, and you can move them to the Filter Panel step by step.

Where the Master Filter Still Appears

  • File → Properties → Master filter opens the workbook's filter in the filter editor.
  • PAGE → Master filter shows or hides a text box with the master filter's contents on the sheet (in interactive design).

Concrete criteria still in an old master filter are applied together with the Filter Panel boxes.

Moving to the Filter Panel

  1. Open the workbook in design mode.
  2. In the Filter Panel, click the magic wand to open Manage filter boxes.
  3. Tick what to do:
  4. Convert … direct filters to Filter Panel boxes – filter visuals on the sheets become Filter Panel boxes, keeping their names;
  5. Remove … empty filter boxes;
  6. Remove … obsolete objects in filter – leftovers from the old master filter.
  7. Click OK, check the result and save.
