14.2 Segmentation Types¶
Datahop offers a wide variety of options for defining your own segmentations, which is a very powerful tool for simplifying data visualization and analyzing KPI's. At the same time, a handful of segmentation types are very common and well understood, so Datashop provides a set of guided types that make creation of segmentations a breeze.
These are the segmentation types:
Top/Bottom N rank, e.g. Top 10 Customers based on Turnover
A/B/C analysis, groups items based on their cumulative contribution to the total
Pareto analysis, similar to A/B/C but with only two groups, usually in a 80/20 split
Quantiles, e.g. Quartiles, Deciles and Percentiles
Custom, where you control every little detail and aspect of the segmentation
Tips – Segmentation Types¶
- Get started with your custom segmentation by first creating a guided segmentation with similar characteristics, e.g. Top N, and then switch to Custom type; This way you can see how to construct the segments in the segmentation.
- Adhere to a good naming convention/standard for your segmentations. Remember that you can always override the name with a custom and simplified title inside your visuals.
- If you don't type a name yourself and you use a guided type, Datashop will generate a name for you based on your settings.
